This Saturday’s Leif Ericson Day Celebration, was a huge success. Over 90 people were in attendance for the march to the Thorfinn Karlsefni statue on Kelly Drive. The attention of many individuals, walking by or observing the annual rowing competition, was gained by the mass of marchers as well as the excellent speakers.

The event started later than originally scheduled, due to heavy unexpected traffic due to Presidential Candidate Sen. Obama speaking at the Mayfair Diner, an accident on Roosevelt Blvd., as well as Gov. Palin who was scheduled to drop the opening puck at the evening’s Phialdelphia Flyers match.

Patrons of the event were then directed to a nearby park in which everyone was welcome to come and celebrate with food, music and friends. Gratitude is extended to everyone who joined us in this second annual event. Please send any photos to us here at Keystone United, we look forward to receiving any personal photos from the event.

Be sure to check the Philadelphia Daily News for articles covering this event.

We will post additional images as well as video footage from the celebration shortly, please check back.
