Keystone United addresses claim

Filed under: Keystone United News, Media, News — Steve Smith @ 11:53 pm

Here is my latest letter to the Wilkes-Barre Times Leader in regards to a local event in which an ADL rep decided to disparage Keystone United.

Unfortunately, I didn’t know beforehand about the Jan. 31 public event in which Anti-Defamation League representative Nancy Baron-Baer was giving a presentation on so-called “hate” groups. If I had known, I would have been there to refute the rhetoric of the ADL.

Ms. Baron-Baer’s attempt to demonize Keystone United as a “hate group” is very hypocritical considering the activities of the ADL. You can read about the ADL at this Internet address:

Keystone United is an organization that is committed to defending our European-American culture and heritage. Our positions on racial issues are backed up with facts and logic.

If Nancy Baron-Baer or any other ADL representative wishes to debate me publicly, I’m not hard to find.

Keystone United Attends Tea Party Against Amnesty

Filed under: Activism, Immigration, Keystone United News — Steve Smith @ 4:38 pm

by Ryan Murphy

On November 14, 2009 , several  members of the North Eastern PA Chapter of  Keystone United attended a  local Tea Party Against Amnesty. This event was hosted by Voice of the People USA, in  Hazleton, PA.  This small city gained national recognition in 2006 when the mayor Lou Barletta tried to pass the Illegal Immigration Relief Act, which levied fines against employers that hired illegal aliens and landlords who had given them residency within the city as well.

The event started at 2:00pm in front of City Hall. We arrived there approximately at 1:45 to be surprised to see no one was there. As time moved on we were joined by two ladies who drove out of their way to make it to this event. The women were very disappointed to see only 4 people there when they arrived, but they were glad to see such young faces being active in a pro-American cause.

With six people being in attendance at the beginning of the event, Keystone United’s regional director of NEPA , Steve Smith, had an opportunity to do an interview for a local TV channel in Hazleton, which seemed to turn out well.  Off the record, the reporter and the cameraman admitted to being on the same side as the Tea Party . Unfortunately, none of us were able to see the outcome of the interview due to the fact that we didn’t receive the channel back in our area. (more…)

Reality Check: A response to Julia Harte of the Philadelphia City Paper

Julia Harte

Julia Harte

Every so often we here at Keystone United actually have the pleasure of dealing with real journalists. That select group of people whose level of professionalism manages to override the ingrained prejudices and emotionally charged bias normally found dripping from most headlines following our name. Unfortunately though, Julia Harte of the Philadelphia City Paper wasn’t one of them, and she certainly won’t be the last, which is why none of us were the least bit surprised to learn of her latest contribution to that regurgitated patchwork of misinformation that passes for journalism these days.

In her recent article dubbed “Kinder, Gentler Skinheads”, featuring a crude drawing of a skinhead holding a dog captioned “SOFT WHITE POWER”, it doesn’t take the reader very long to figure out that Julia Harte clearly took her queue directly from lasts year’s Leif Erikson Day coverage in the Daily News; “Skinhead Lite: Can White Supremacy be Kinder & Gentler?” A rather sad yet obvious attempt at repackaging and redistributing last year’s headlines. Rain or Shine: Another Great Leif Erikson Day!

Filed under: Culture & History, Events, Keystone United News — Keith Carney @ 3:18 pm

leifday2009Many great thanks are in order to all of the folks that played a part in helping to organize this years 3nd annual Leif Erikson Day celebration. We would especially like to take the time and thank all of the people that made it out and took part in Saturday’s celebration.

As an event that started over two years ago as nothing more than an idea, it has been the continued support from all of our friends, family and supporters that has enabled us to build upon such an honorable celebration. And even with the rain scaring off a number of people we were still able do this great holiday justice and brave the weather in true viking spirit!

Thanks again everyone, we’ll be seeing all of you again next October.

Leif Erikson Day 2009: Making Your Efforts Count + Directions & Hotel Information

Filed under: Culture & History, Events, Keystone United News, News — Keith Carney @ 11:20 pm

188In less than one week from today many of us will be gathering in downtown Philadelphia to pay tribute to Leif Erikson and Thorfinn Karlsefni, two great men whose actions transformed their own thoughts and dreams into a reality, one that has impacted generations and even shaped the very lives that we live today. And much like the rest of us, with the numerous thoughts and ideas that pass through our heads on a daily basis, the Philadelphia Leif Erikson Day celebration started out as little more than just that; an idea.

With the help of no more than 30 people, the Leif Erikson Day celebration here in Philadelphia has since grown into an event that all of us can be proud of. We are now coming up on our 3rd year and we ask that all of you do your part to see that this event gets the proper attention it deserves. We ask that you take the time out of your day to repost our flier on any of the social networking sites that you use and to spread this information by word of mouth to your friends and family. But most importantly, we ask that you pay tribute to these great men by making the trip to Philadelphia, PA on Sat October 10th to stand side by side with all of us in honor of such a worthy celebration.
